Graduate Diploma
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
The Graduate Diploma of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in Australia equips educators with the skills and knowledge to effectively teach English to non-native speakers. The program covers key areas such as linguistics, language acquisition, curriculum design, and teaching methodologies. Graduates are prepared to work in diverse educational settings both in Australia and internationally, addressing the needs of English language learners from various cultural backgrounds.
The Graduate Diploma is an advanced qualification in TESOL and Literacy. Students will gain an advanced understanding of TESOL approaches (text-based, genre-based, task–based, Systemic Functional Linguistics, etc), curriculum development, applied linguistics, second language acquisition, and assessment design. They will have the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge in real TESOL classrooms.
A key feature of the program is that students will be trained in tailoring their teaching approaches to accommodate a different cohort of students across age groups, and ethnicity, as well as variation in literacy and numeracy skill levels. The award is accredited and recognised internationally.
