Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

• Educational Background:
  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution. Some programs may prefer or require a background in education, linguistics, or a related field.
• English Language Proficiency:
  • Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in English, typically through tests such as IELTS (minimum score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0) or TOEFL (minimum score of 79-93). • Professional Experience:
  • Relevant work experience in teaching or education may be required or preferred. Some programs may accept applicants without teaching experience if they meet other criteria.
• Application Materials:
  • Completed application form.
  • Academic transcripts and certificates.
  • A resume or CV outlining educational background and work experience.
  • A personal statement or statement of purpose explaining the applicant’s interest in the program and career goals.
  • Letters of recommendation (typically two) from academic or professional references.
• Interview:
  • Some programs may require an interview as part of the selection process to assess the applicant’s suitability and commitment to the field of TESOL.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Some institutions may have specific requirements or prerequisites, such as completion of certain undergraduate courses or attendance at an information session.

Graduates of the TESOL program will be well-prepared to work in a variety of educational environments, including schools, language institutes, and universities, both in Australia and internationally. They will be equipped to address the unique challenges of teaching English to speakers of other languages, helping learners achieve proficiency and confidence in their English language skills.
